Overview

Boswellia serrata — commonly called Indian frankincense — is a resin extracted from the Boswellia tree native to India, the Middle East, and North Africa. It has been a cornerstone of Ayurvedic medicine for centuries, used primarily for inflammatory conditions of the joints, lungs, and gut. The active compounds are boswellic acids, and the most important of these is AKBA (acetyl-11-keto-beta-boswellic acid).
