Green Tea Extract is a concentrated form of compounds found in Camellia sinensis leaves, the same plant used to make green, black, and oolong tea. Unlike black tea, green tea leaves are minimally oxidized during processing, which preserves a higher concentration of catechins — a class of polyphenol antioxidants.
The most studied and biologically active catechin is epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), which makes up a large portion of green tea's polyphenol content and is responsible for most of its documented effects. Timing

- Liver conditions: Rare cases of liver toxicity reported with high-dose extracts, especially taken fasted. Avoid exceeding 800mg EGCG/day and always take with food.
- Iron absorption: Catechins can reduce non-heme iron absorption. Separate dosing from iron supplements or iron-rich meals by 1–2 hours.
- Stimulant medications: Naturally occurring caffeine can have additive effects with other stimulants. Use caution if combining with pre-workouts or other caffeine sources.
- Blood thinners: Vitamin K content is minimal but caution is still advised for those on warfarin; consult a physician.
- Pregnancy & breastfeeding: Limit caffeine intake; consult a doctor before using concentrated extracts.
