Strong mouse lifespan data, but the one human pilot study found genuinely mixed results
Fisetin is a natural flavonoid found in small amounts in strawberries, apples, persimmons, and onions, and it has become one of the more talked-about ingredients in the "longevity supplement" category under the label senolytic — a compound studied for its ability to selectively clear senescent cells, old and damaged cells that stop dividing but linger in tissue and are thought to contribute to age-related decline.
The interest traces back to a genuinely striking 2018 study that identified fisetin as the most potent senolytic among ten tested flavonoids and found it extended both median and maximum lifespan in aged mice. That's real, well-cited research — but it's mouse research. This is a case worth being especially direct about: the one available human pilot study on fisetin and biological aging found results that don't currently support the anti-aging claims built around it, and its own authors said so plainly.

- If you try it anyway, intermittent dosing (days per month, not daily) reflects the senolytic "hit-and-run" theory used in available human trials
- Larger, longer human trials are actively underway — worth checking back as this research matures
A 2024 pilot study gave 10 healthy adults (ages 53-72) 500mg of fisetin one week per month for six months and measured change in biological age using an epigenetic ("TruAge") test. Four of ten participants showed reduced biological aging, five of ten showed an increase, and one showed no change, with no statistically significant change in telomere length. The study's own authors concluded that taking fisetin as an anti-aging agent is not recommended until more extensive research is done — a notably honest conclusion given how the ingredient is often marketed.
