Eleuthero (Eleutherococcus senticosus), commonly sold as "Siberian ginseng," is a woody shrub native to East Asia and Russia. Despite the marketing name, it isn't botanically related to Panax ginseng -- it belongs to a different genus entirely and contains its own distinct active compounds, called eleutherosides, rather than the ginsenosides found in true ginseng.
